Other Improvements to the Soaps
For the bar, 8 & 32 oz. soaps with organic oils:
• The conventional olive fatty acid has been replaced with organic olive, hemp and jojoba oils.
• Some added salt keeps the soaps from separating when cold and thickens them a bit.
For the Baby-Mild bar & liquid soaps:
• The aloe vera has been replaced with extra olive and jojoba oils.
For all the soaps:
• The rosemary extract has been replaced with Vitamin E & citric acid to better protect freshness.
• The soaps are lighter as the rosemary no longer darkens them, but they are just as concentrated.
Organic is About Farming & the Environment For our bar, 8 & 32 oz. soaps, we source all the core soap and essential oils organically, not just minor additive ingredients, in order to support and encourage sustainable agriculture, farm worker health and ecological processing methods. We know that customers have a high level of trust in the principles behind the word "organic" and do not want to see it rendered as meaningless as the word "natural."
However, some so-called "natural" body care manufacturers are green-washing their products with organic label claims, even though their formulations are largely based on the same synthetic surfactants and preservatives found in mainstream products. They do so by adding organic floral water (composed mostly of ordinary distilled water from steam) to conventional surfactants and preservatives that are in part or mostly petroleum-derived.* This practice is hindering the market for body care products whose real core ingredients are organically certified and hence costlier, as they are not able to distinguish themselves from those that contain relatively cheap "organic" filler water. Various companies are even pressuring the Organic Trade Association (OTA) and the USDA to codify these watered-down measures and make organic body care standards a mere shell of the rigorous food standards."Organic" should not become another empty, feel-good marketing buzz-word! Dr. Bronner's is supporting the Organic Consumers Association's 'Coming Clean' campaign, and we are asking our customers to take action on behalf of strong organic standards by signing the OCA's petition and clicking a pre-written letter to the USDA at:
